Next Meeting: Wednesday May 6th . (Note that this is not our usual Friday evening); {This is also a nod to the International Dowsing Day on the 5th May.}   Part Two of Geoff’s talk on a more philosophical side of Dowsing. This time we build on the practical to get a view of how to get one’s head around the possibilities that dowsing can present; seemingly impossible advantages.   It is scientifically preferred to create hypothetical insights to help in an understanding of what we have found from experience; beyond it just being “ethereal and plain weird”. Geoff will be basing this on “Game Theory” and pointing out that Dowsing is not a “belief”, but essentially an “acceptance”. This interactive evening should be excellent fun as these views are not commonly aired.   Note that there will be no borrowing Library on this evening!

Next Month June 12th:   This will be an Outside Visit to the Woking Planetarium.  Doors open 18.45.  Cost £7.56 per person.

Please see more on this plustheaddress and more notes on this evening appearing closer to the time, and book your place at:  www.wokingplanetarium.co.uk    Click on the ticket button for 12th June.

The Stars play a large part in our related subjects so we are going to try something novel for us.   The Starlight Odyssey Session is 2 hours long and is hosted by the extremely knowledgeable guest presenter and former science teacher Laurence Anslow FRAS.   . They also include an in depth presentation in the activity space, followed by a session inside the planetarium with our resident presenter, Dr. Chrissy Welding..

July 9th. we like to meet “locally” outdoors, when warmer, rather than at the Hall. Not too far from Godalming, perhaps?  One suggestion is that we return to the Old St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Albury Park, same as we visited last year and hope we can enter the Church this time.  Starting earlier at 19.00 to allow us more light, but you can arrive at any time and follow the signs to our location. The Church was surrounded by a village once and the layout can be dowsed.   See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_St_Peter_and_St_Paul%27s_Church,_Albury     Otherwise we will announce an alternative meeting point in the next Message.   There may be possibilities of retiring to a local hostelry afterward, too!

If anyone is interested, then Devon Dowsers event D-fest is on the weekend 27-28 th June at South Zeal, Dartmoor, Devon. Geoff is going so he could give a lift to anyone else who would like to join in. Traveling on the Friday and returning on the Monday. Please see https://devondowsers.org.uk/event/d-fest …tickets are restricted!

August; no meeting at the Hall, but possibly a weekend day out?   Last year we had a great day at Glastonbury Tor, exploring the Micheal and Mary “Dragon” lines. This year we are suggesting Avebury and its connections (West Kennert Barrow, The Sanctuary,  Silbury Hill, maybe even Marlborough Mound…). Any takers or alternative suggestions? We can usually get 5 in a car.

Given that Surrey County looks like it will be split into East and West in the next year it was considered that we could change our group title to “West Surrey Dowsers”. This gives us a fresh start; and a chance to build a new identity. It is  a better description of our location than “Waverley” (as some thought it was in Scotland!). Let us know what you feel about this, please?

General Information on Waverley Dowsers;

We meet on the second Friday evening of each month (except August, or if an alternative date is announced) at the Unitarian Hall in Godalming GU7 3JB. would care to join in; please ask!   We offer to feed our guest speakers beforehand and a few of us meet at the Jack Phillips in Godalming High Street at 18.00 before an evening event (a Wetherspoons; please Google it for the menu.  Free car parking by then, at the rear).  We may even take our speaker to a local site of interest, before feeding them. If you fancy joining in, let Geoff know and he will get you informed of some that might interest you. Once you get on their circulation list they will keep you informed.
